Hi!
Semaphore is any form of nonverbal communication communicated over some distance. It’s a nod to our location under the green line tracks when the CTA used flags to direct the trains.
We are a locally and queer owned cafe located in East Garfield Park at 3458 W Lake St on the corner of St. Louis Ave, a couple of blocks from the Garfield Park Conservatory.
We opened in January of 2026 and are excited to be part of the community! We proudly serve coffee from Sparrow Coffee, pastries from Publican Bread, bagels from Steingold’s, and we serve a mean brunch that we make from scratch everyday!
Semaphore Cafe is owned by Richard Weber, an industry veteran of 20 years in the hospitality industry and former owner of the award winning cocktail bar Bokeh, located in Albany Park.
After moving to East Garfield Park last year, Richard saw a need for a community gathering space serving quality food and ingredients in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
We are open 7 days a week from 7am-4pm at 3458 W Lake St. in Chicago, IL. We’re glad you’re here or on your way!
